Head Start
 
Head Start is a federal and state funded program offering:
 
  • 4 ½ or 5 hour instructional day
  • Extended hours available for working families
  • Qualified teaching staff
  • Staff certified in Infant and Child First Aid
  • Individualized learning activities
  • Educational screenings
  • Health screenings and follow up
  • Parent workshops and support services
  • Breakfast and lunch provided
  • Registered nurse on duty
  • Enroll children with disabilities
  • A smooth transition form pre-kindergarten to kindergarten
  • Use a curriculum that will help your child grow academically and socially
  • Small class sizes

Head Start serves 437 children in all of Schuylkill County through center based and home based options. Head Start is currently the only comprehensive, family-focused agency.
